Name
Cascara means in Spanish "husk", "peel" or "skin", also referred as a coffee cherry tea. A lot of the time pulped cherries are just discarded or in better cases used as compost. But recently most coffee-producing countries have found great use of it as a delicious tea.
Long history
While it might be a fairly new and unknown product for most people, coffee farmers in Yemen and Ethiopia have been drying and brewing cherries like this for centuries, maybe even before coffee was made as a drink for the first time.
Much less caffeine
Cascara contains 3-5 times less caffeine than the same amount of coffee and has a lot of antioxidants.
Properties
It can be brewed with hot or cold water (cold brew) and it has a fruity taste with notes of rose hip, hibiscus, and cherry.
